*** Before bringing your items to be powder coated please be sure to do the following***
1. Completely disassemble your items
2. Clean and remove any dirt or grease
3. Remove anything from your item that cannot withstand heat up to 400 degrees.
Teflon coating – we have used this coating with a great success with tool and die shops. If you need a coating that is slippery and has great abrasion resistance this is a great option.
Heat dispersant coatings – we have a few local race teams who like to use our heat dispersant coating. It can be applied to engine blocks, radiators, heads, intakes, and transmission housings to help cool your engine. Less heat equals more horsepower.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The most important part of the coating the process is choosing the correct preparation. Custom Metal Coating offers sandblasting, chemical stripping, and burn off services. We will work with you to choose what application best fits your needs.
Sandblasting offers a great way to prepare new or painted metal. While we use the term sandblasting that doesn’t mean we are always using sand. Depending on the type of metal we may use aluminum oxide, baking soda, sand, and steel shot.
Chemical Stripping is a great way to strip powder coating or painted parts where you may not want to use an abrasive product. We mainly use our chemical stripping tank on aluminum products such as wheels. After chemical stripping we will lightly blast your part with aluminum oxide to insure optimum coating adhesion.
Our burn off services are mainly used on steel products which have been previously powder coated. The burn off oven burns off the powder coating at 800 degrees. To ensure not to shock the metal the temperature is reduced by 100 degrees per hour until it returns to 300 degrees. Many of the race teams we coat for feel this process also distresses the metal. In fact, one race team insists that we run their frames thru the burn off oven from new.
SANDBLASTING & METAL STRIPPING
Our ceramic coatings provide a high quality finish that looks great and can withstand heat up to 1,800 degrees. Ceramic coatings are mainly used on car, truck, and motorcycle exhausts but they are not limited just to that application. We have also restored many wood and coal stoves over the years with our ceramic coatings.
